Ryedale Lodge, Nunnington, York YO62 5XB
Ryedale Lodge is set in a south facing sloping site between Nunnington and Oswaldkirk, and commands expansive views over the surrounding countryside and northwards to the Moors. It was originally the railway station for the neighbouring village, but the axe of Dr Beeching in the early 1960’s insured that, along with many other fine houses, it lost its identity to the great benefit of a succession of owners who have occupied it as a house ever since. It was renovated and totally restored by the present owners in 2003/2004.
- Over 5000 sq ft of accommodation, fully renovated and restored.
- A number of elegant reception rooms including a light filled drawing room with an open fireplace and double doors leading to the garden room where French windows open onto the terrace.
- 5 bedrooms all with en suite facilities. The master bedroom enjoys dual aspect views facing south and east as well as two substantial walk-in wardrobes and an en suite bathroom.
- Superbly designed, contemporary kitchen breakfast room that spans the width of the house, with stone floor and pewter 4-oven Aga.
Self-contained annexe attached to the southern end of the house with kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. This would be ideal for a variety of uses.
- 4 acres of gardens and grounds. There is the potential to create paddocks for those with equestrian interests, and the various outbuildings could be converted to stabling.
- Glorious rural location with far reaching views to all sides.
- The quiet rural position of Ryedale Lodge belies its proximity to the major market towns of Helmsley and Malton; York is about half an hour to the south and the well known co-educational public school, Ampleforth College, is a few minutes’ drive.
