Byre Cottage is end of terrace, two storey and faces the village street, the other two cottages are tucked away behind, single storey and attached. The bedrooms are all double apart from the second bedroom in Byre Cottage which is able to accommodate bunk beds. There is a useful communal boot room and laundry room with a payphone for guest use.

Moorland Cottages enjoys an enviable position in the centre of the village, one of the most picturesque villages in the National Park with a clear moorland stream winding its way through the grassy knolls that form the village green. The village has a number of amenities with two cafés and ‘The Crown’ public house; it is also home to the Ryedale Folk Museum. This area is in the heart of quintessential North Yorkshire countryside within the North York Moors National Park and adjacent to the Howardian Hills. The North Yorkshire steam railway runs from nearby Pickering and there are several National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby as well as other historic sites and places of interest.
